| General Specs: Ithaca, 1927, 10 Gauge, 8lbs. 9oz., Chokes LM/F, LOP 14 1/16″, DAH 2 5/8″, DAC 1 1/2″ Serial Number: 443408 What an amazing find! This truly rare gun remains in HIGH FACTORY ORIGINAL CONDITION, UNTOUCHED IN ANYWAY, with 99%-barrel blue, 99% case color, and 97% trigger guard blue, and tons of original wood finish. The NID Super 10 is a low production gun, with only 560 made in all grades. This could be the finest FIELD GRADE NID Super 10 in existence. Developed to throw a monster 1 5/8oz. load at 1375fps., the NID Super 10 was by far the best long-range gun ever developed until the Magnum 10 came out with the 3 ½” Magnum load. Weighing only 8lbs. 9oz. with its 32” barrels, it is more nimble, more capable, and more potent for long-range hunting than even the famous HE Super Fox. The Super Fox was only made to handle 3” loads with 1 3/8oz. shot and 4 drams of powder. Throwing 1/4oz. more shot at the same speed from a larger diameter 10ga. bore reduces shot string length and puts more pellets on target upon impact than the Super Fox and does so with a lighter weight gun! Ammunition is readily available in adequate waterfowl loads from RST, Salt Creek Custom Ammunition, and here in our shop. You can find plenty of vintage ammo with heavy loads at local gun shows for hunting when non-toxic is not required (predators, turkey). Loading the 2 7/8” shell with Bismuth, Tungsten Matrix, or other soft non-toxic is a simple process as well. If you want to take waterfowl, pheasants, or turkey cleanly at 75 yards and more, this is your gun. There are no modern guns that will even come close to the patterns produced by the Super 10. A comprehensive two-part article on the Ithaca Super 10 can be found in the Double Gun Journal in the Spring and Summer issue of 2014. I will include both of those Journals with the sale of the gun so you can understand the significance of this fine Ithaca NID Super 10. Examine the photos and you will see a shotgun that has barely been used and was very well cared for. Condition, rarity, usefulness, and desirability…this gun has it all. The barrels have factory bore diameters, chambers, and chokes and the bores are mirror shiny. She even has awesome modern stock dimensions, see specs below.
