Bird season is coming fast, the leaves will be turning, the pheasants will be cackling, and the grouse will be flushing. Time for a new Parker for your upland season, but how to choose? There are many available and more than just price should influence your decision. You want a gun that will serve your needs, function properly without costing you more money on repairs, and a gun that looks good and makes you proud. For investment and enjoyment of use, finding Parker guns that have been well cared for throughout their life, lightly used, fully inspected, documented by experts, AND carry a written 30-day mechanical warranty make the most sense for your hard-earned money. Other factors that should be considered are rarity of features, condition, quality of wood, and for a field gun, weight and balance. This fine Parker, sn226225 made in 1928, is a very rare find in that the condition of metal and wood is “as found” and retains 94% factory blue, 70% vivid factory case color, perfect screws, perfect wood-to-metal fit, superb checkering, barrels tight on breech face and hinge pin like a new gun, no cracks or repairs to the wood…just a perfect example of a fine Parker VHE in high condition. Even the 28” barrels with M/F chokes have mirror shiny bores and are factory original. There are a LOT of Parker VH 16ga. guns for sale, but only about 2500 with ejectors, and only a few with lots of factory condition that have not been buggered up, or otherwise made less desirable by the addition of a pad, poor restorations, or replaced parts. Examine the details in the photos closely and you will notice the superior wood to metal fit, superb factory checkering, original dogs head buttplate, awesome shooting dimensions, factory original bore diameter, choke, and wall thicknesses, all setting it apart from the others (see specifications below). IF THE NEW OWNER WANTS THE BARRELS RUST BLUED, VFI CAN DO THIS FOR AN ADDED CHARGE WITHIN 4 WEEKS OF PURCHASE. This Parker 16ga. is built on built on a #1 frame but weighs in at 6lbs. 9oz. and balances right on the hinge pin. Most Parker 16ga. guns weigh ¼ to ½ pound. more! PRESENTLY IT IS DIFFICULT TO FIND 2 ½” 16GA. SHELLS. BECAUSE OF THIS, VFI GUNSMITHS HAVE CAREFULLY MEASURED THE BARREL WALL THICKNESS AHEAD OF THE CHAMBER AND HAVE LENGTHENED THE CHAMBERS TO 2 ¾” AND EXTENDED THE FORCING CONES TO 1 ½” TAPERS SO THAT YOU CAN SHOOT MODERN 2 ¾” HEAVY FIELD LOADS THROUGH THIS GUN. This is a $360 service in our shop. Somewhere along this Parker’s 101 years of existence a Miller single selective trigger was added, the finest single selective trigger ever made by most knowledgeable gun aficionado’s opinions. The LOP is measured from this mid-position trigger, meaning if measured from a front trigger the LOP would be ½” longer, so the stock has not been cut, just the single trigger added. A finer Parker upland gun you will not find at this price. Just a few light rubs and handling marks on the barrels from use in the field. Thanks for looking, and you should take this Parker for a hunt!
