The Model 11-48 was the first new shotgun produced by Remington after the Second World War. Production ran from 1949-1968, during which time there were approximately 455,000 made. The Model 11-48 is a semi-automatic recoiling barrel action shotgun and was produced in 12, 16, 20, 28, and .410 gauges, with only about 18,000 being made to chamber the 28ga shell – the least produced of all 11-48’s. This example, sn4038742, is marked on the barrel as being manufactured in 1965 and it has its factory original finishes. This shotgun has a 25” vent-ribbed barrel with a mirror bore, 98% factory original bluing, and full choke. Matching serial numbers are found on the barrel lug and receiver. The vent-rib and the top of the receiver have received a matted finish to reduce glare. The machined steel receiver has 98% factory original bluing with some light silvering at the bottom edges. The furniture features nice straight grain wood showing light fiddleback in areas, there are some field marks. The pistol grip cap is embossed with the image of a duck in-flight. This is a very clean sub-gauge Model 11-48 in notable condition – something that is hard to find in today’s market. Weighing an impressive 5lbs. and 14oz., this is a great lightweight gun for trap shooting and all-day carrying while out in the field turkey or waterfowl hunting. Thanks for looking!
