General Specs: Ruger, 1974, .458 Winchester Magnum, 10lbs., LOP 13 3/4″ Serial Number: 71-11966 VFI is pleased to offer this purpose-built dangerous game rifle. Capable on safari for the Big Five or for the most dangerous bears in North America. .458 Winchester Magnum is designed for deep penetration on thick-skinned game animals like elephant, rhinoceros, and African Cape Buffalo. With proper ammunition selection, it is also effective for large felids such as lions and jaguars. The stock has nice, clean checkering, a classic Ruger red buttpad, faint handling marks, and an overall solid feel in your hands. Length of pull is 13-¾”. The hinged floorplate offers safe unloading. The bolt operates smoothly, with a push feed action and claw extractor. The finish on all the metal surfaces is superb. The barrel is 24 inches and has a mirror bore with perfectly cut rifling. This sturdy rifle is equipped with flip-up, adjustable open sights, and the action is milled for easy mounting of a detachable scope. Everything about this handsome rifle instills confidence, exactly what you want from a dangerous game rifle.
