| General Specs: Ugartechea, 1957, 12-Gauge, 7lbs. 7oz., Chokes Cyl/SK, LOP 15 1/4″, DAH 2 5/16″, DAC 1 5/16″ Serial Number: 36694 This 1957 Ignacio Ugartechea 12 Gauge Boxlock Ejector is a handsome Spanish double built in the classic English sporting style, with a straight-hand stock, splinter forend, double triggers, automatic ejectors and desirable sideclips reinforcing the action. Attractive scroll engraving covers the action, fences, floorplate and furniture, giving the gun considerably more character than the typical utility-grade Spanish boxlock. Condition is very good overall. The barrels retain strong blue with light handling marks, the bores are mirror bright, and the engraved action has mellowed to an attractive silver-gray patina. The walnut shows pleasing figure with well-defined checkering and a neatly fitted recoil pad. The unusually generous 15 1/4″ LOP will be especially appealing to taller shooters. The ejectors are properly timed, triggers are crisp, ribs are tight, and the gun balances just ahead of the hinge pin. With its traditional configuration, very open chokes, long stock and quality Spanish construction, this is an attractive and highly usable vintage double that can be carried and enjoyed without hesitation.
