V. Sarasqueta 12 Ga. – M209, SIDELOCK, 1930, STUNNING!,

Victor Sarasqueta from Eibar, Spain began in 1883 and operated for a century producing fine side x side shotguns and rifles modeled after British BEST guns.  Victor Sarasqueta sidelock guns from the pre-WWII era are well known  as superior guns sold at affordable prices.  There were other Sarasqueta makers based in Spain, but the VICTOR SARASQUETA guns were the premium guns under that name.  In fact, in 1902 Victor Sarasqueta was awarded a Royal Warrant as purveyor of guns to the King of Spain, a very high honor indeed.  This gun, a Model 209 built between 1929 and 1931, is a 7-pin sidelock hand engraved with fine English scroll/floral bouquet engraving rivaling the finest of any of the BEST British makers.  This is not the rudimentary Spanish engraving encountered on lesser guns.  A close look at the photos will reveal engraving as good as any of its style.  This gun, sn39833, was built as a heavy proofed gun with 29.75” barrels and IM/F chokes, likely for competition in the pigeon ring of the day.  Still in amazing condition, the engraving is clear and sharp, the mechanics superb with crisp trigger pulls, strong well-timed ejectors, perfect screws, auto safety functioning as designed.  Super lock up with Greener crossbolt, rib extension, and double underlug bites.  The finely struck chopper lump barrels have tight ribs, mirror shiny bores, 2 ¾” chambers, and 99% of a fine rust blue.  The wood-to-metal fit is perfect all around, the profuse 28lpi checkering sharp and damage free, the drop points well defined, and there are no cracks or repairs to be found.  The wood is nicely figured European walnut with well defined fiddleback accenting the smokey grain of the wood and sealed in a hand-rubbed oil finish.  This gun has been very well cared for and maintained in its 94 years of existence.  We stripped the action and forend iron, Ultrasonic cleaned and scrubbed all parts to shiny metal, inspected all  for integrity and function, lubricated and reassembled, providing you a VFI CERTIFIED GUN, a $450 service in our shop.  VFI CERTIFIED GUNS have a 90-day mechanical warranty.  The Victor Sarasqueta Model 209 is an incredible value in a BEST QUALITY SIDELOCK EJECTOR GUN.  You just can’t touch a gun of this quality and class for anywhere near the price.  The workmanship and quality of the mechanics are unsurpassed at well under half the cost of a like British maker.  At 7 ½ pounds and balanced 1/8” forward of the hinge pin, it is a dynamic gun capable of the heaviest of loads for fowl or upland game, live pigeons, trap or sporting clays.  We can alter stock dimensions or chokes within a few days of purchase if you need.  We do the very best leather covered pads if you prefer that premium mount, stick, and looks of a Purdey style pigskin covered pad.  At the price of this gun, you can afford the added niceties if you choose.  THIS GUN NEEDS NOTHING BUT A NEW HOME…IT IS READY FOR ANOTHER 100 YEARS.  See the specifications below.  Thanks for looking!
