Vintage Firearms Inc is pleased to offer for sale this desirable Pre-Ban Valmet Model 76 with wood stock. This example was part of a shipment made from Valmet (Finland) to Valmet NY State. Originally destined for the Indonesian Coast Guard. When the Indonesians had accepted all that they were going to take, the remaining guns, (estimated between 50-200) were then shipped to Elmsford New York Valmet import building for direct sale to the public, therefore There are no secondary company import stamps. This example was built in Finland circa 1986, it is serial number 157292. Valmet rifles are often considered the Rolls Royce of the AK variants. Manufactured between 1976 and 1986 the Valmet M62/76 series of rifles are updates of the AK-47 design. Beginning with a licensed version of the AK-47 receiver, Valmet upgraded the basic design with tighter tolerances than the Soviet bloc AKs while still offering outstanding reliability in all climates. This kit has been in the ownership of a single collector since 1986, it has been test fired but that’s it. The gun has 99% factory original finishes with just a few marks form admiring hands, you would be hard pressed to find a better example. The gun features a crisp first-rate trigger, a rear sight that flips for night fighting, five original blued Valmet magazines and the extremely rare scope mount and top cover, and a wood buttstock with grain that would not look out of place on a high-end hunting rifle, no chance of a wobbly folding stock here! A sling and manual are also included. What a great find, the whole set-up is the coolest AK rig out there, add it to your Cold War collection ASAP! Thanks for looking.
