| General Specs: L. Borovnik, 1938-1941, 2lbs. 10oz., Serial Number: 8732 An exceptional custom Mauser 98 action by Ludwig Borovnik of Ferlach, Austria, showcasing the craftsmanship and artistry associated with the finest European sporting rifles. This beautifully appointed action features extensive hand engraving, including a detailed stag game scene on the magazine floorplate, intricate floral scrollwork throughout the receiver, and an elegantly engraved butterknife bolt handle. Traditional double-set triggers, finely engraved bottom metal, and carefully executed custom details distinguish this action from ordinary commercial Mauser offerings. Two “655” Waffenamt inspection stamps are visible on the internal sear/trigger block. This specific code indicates that the original military parts were manufactured by Mauser-Werke AG, circa 1938 to 1941. The metal retains an attractive appearance with scattered finish wear and handling marks consistent with age and use, as shown in the photographs. Offered as an action only, this is a wonderful opportunity for the discerning collector or custom rifle enthusiast to acquire a distinctive piece of Austrian gunmaking craftsmanship. An outstanding foundation for a high-grade bespoke sporting rifle.
