| General Specs: Colt, c1969, .357 Magnum, 45oz. 6″ Serial Number: 31913U
Vintage Firearms is pleased to offer Colt’s take on the double action magnum revolver. After the introduction of the Colt Python to widespread acclaim, Colt re-launched the Colt Trooper in 1969 to fill the niche for a medium frame revolver aimed at the Law enforcement market. The .357 Magnum Trooper was the premier offering of the new product line, featuring a heavy barrel with a solid top matted rib as well as a shroud to protect the ejection rod. The Trooper was lighter, handier, and smoother than the Smith & Wesson competition, the internal lock works, springs and pins were stainless steel and hand fitted. This example, serial number 31913U, produced circa 1969, has a 6” barrel with a mirror bore, and comes fitted with Pachmayr grips adorned with gold Colt medallions. It retains 98%+ of its original factory nickel finish with some areas having dulled over the years- most notably on the trigger bow, most of the hammer’s case color remains. Of course, the Trooper has Colts famously smooth and crisp trigger, with this one having a outstanding Double Action and slick Single Action measuring 4.2lbs. In single action there is the slightest amount of take up before a perfect break and zero overtravel- just right! The Colt Trooper MKIII is a classic LEO sidearm, immensely popular before the advent of the wonder nines! Complimenting the famous Colt Snakes this would make a fine addition to any Colt collection.
