| General Specs: Krieghoff, Year 2008, 28 Gauge, 5lbs. 9oz., Chokes IM/IM, LOP 14 7/16″, DAH 2 3/16″, DAC 1 7/16″ Serial Number: 1090 Pick up a Shooting Sportsman magazine and you will see the prominent advertisement featuring Krieghoff’s classic sidelock game gun side x side called the “ESSENCIA”, and that is as close to the actual gun you will likely ever come. Krieghoff began production on the Essencia in 2004 and approximately 24 guns a year are produced by old school craftsman using hand-fit parts and finishing processes. A true back-action, round body sidelock masterpiece handmade in Germany to the most exacting standards, these guns will not be discounted by dealers as they are near impossible to get. One ordered to your specifications will take a minimum of 18 months to deliver. So few are in the hands of the public that most double gun aficionados have never seen one in person let alone handled one. As most of you know I am privileged to be involved with some of the finest double shotguns on the planet, and this is a finely made game gun that will hold its own when compared to the very best offering around the globe. I am offering this gun at well under dealer price, so if you want to own the finest, most dynamic handling Krieghoff ever, now is the time to make the wise investment while you can get a near new masterpiece for a fraction of the price of new. This Essencia 28-gauge wand, sn1090 built in 2008, has 30” barrels choked IM/IM (.016/.018), not a mark on them anywhere, 2 ¾” chambers, and are struck smooth as glass, a sure sign of world class quality. The action is wonderfully bone and charcoal case colored, with fine scroll engraving, perfect screws, trigger guard richly charcoal blued with rolled edges both sides, single trigger, with a nice touch of gold applied to the maker’s name, model, triggers, cocking indicators, and safety label on the old world shaped sidelock action. Many of the internal parts of the action are gold washed as well. The wood is boldly figured circassian walnut, finely shaped with a Prince of Wales pistol grip and splinter forend, with fine 28 LPI borderless hand checkering, meticulous and superb inletting to all metal, luxurious hand-rubbed oil finish with only a few tiny handling marks, and a checkered butt. Gorgeous wood is a fine bonus on this gun. Weighing just 5lbs. 9oz. and balanced dead on the hinge pin, there is not a finer handling gun available. Many may match it, but I have not handled a BETTER feeling 28ga. game gun with the 30” barrels. The Essencia value will increase yearly as the manufacturing costs increase year to year.
