Description
General Specs: Baker, 1915-1919, 12 Gauge, 7lbs. 3oz., Chokes C/F, LOP 14 5/8″, DAH 2 5/8″, DAC 1 3/4″ Serial Number: 48666 Here we have a very rare Baker Gun Co. Paragon Grade 12 gauge gun that remains in remarkable factory original condition. This is a late Folsom gun, sn48666 built between 1915 and 1919 as far as I can tell. There is little information readily available on the Paragon, but it was one of the higher grade Baker Gun Co. guns that was the only other commercially successful American built sidelock shotgun. The barrel flats and water table on the action are stamped with the “PARAGON E.J.” stampings to verify the grade, as does the engraving and quality of wood on the gun. The engraver’s cuts are still raised and sharp, and the gun’s mechanics are superb, with great screws, timed ejectors, barrels still tight on face by London standards, bores are mirror shiny, and the Krupp Fluid Steel barrels have tight ribs and measure 28” long, choked Cyl/Full. This gun weighs just 7lbs. 3oz. and balances 1/8” forward of the hinge pin and has good modern stock dimensions. The action and trigger guard are factory case colored a very dark bone and charcoal case color that almost looks blue until you get the gun in the sunlight where you see the variable colors in the finish. The Baker Paragon is a very hard gun to find, and if you are trying to have a high-grade gun from each of the notable American makers, you will need a Paragon in your representation of Baker Gun Co. Very suitable for game or clays, this is an investment quality, rare firearm that will continue to gain value as you enjoy its use. Thanks for looking!
