Description
General Specs: Browning, Year 1980, 20 Gauge; .30-06, 7lbs. 3oz.; 6lbs., Chokes M/F, LOP 14 1/4″, DAH 2 1/8″, DAC 1 3/8″ Serial Number: 177PM01016 The Browning Superposed Continental Set was produced from the Presentation Grade era of 1979 through 1984. This is a classic concept that has functional validity in North America and around the world. A Browning Superposed Superlight 20ga. over/under shotgun with highly figured wood with an oil finish that is far nicer than the earlier Superlight shotguns, with an extra set of over/under .30-06 rifle barrels fitted to the same frame, the set housed in a Browning hard case all as a factory produced package. They only made 734 Continental Sets with only 239 with the .30-06 caliber. The rifle barrels are good for almost any North American big game and made for stalking and quick shots out beyond 200 yards. And of course, the Superlight 20ga. is a superb upland gun. In 1969 Browning introduced the Superposed “SUPERLIGHT” in the 20ga. and finally was born a true upland bird gun. A typical Browning Lightning model weighs about 6 1/2lbs. This Superlight weighs in at 6lbs. balanced perfectly on the hinge pin. This 20 bore Superlight is 1/2lb. lighter than the Lightning Model! This is a dynamic upland bird gun, with its straight hand stock, rounded frame, and schnabel forend that can be carried all day without fatigue. If you look at other Superlight Superposed guns you will see most had rather plain wood. This gun has highly figured wood with lots of fiddleback and feather crotch figure on both sides of the stock. THIS SUPERLIGHT 20GA. HAS 3” CHAMBERS. EARLIER SUPERLIGHTS ONLY CAME WITH 2 ¾” CHAMBERS. WHAT A PHEASANT GUN THIS WILL MAKE! This gun, sn177PM01016 made in 1980, is in AS NEW, LIKELY UNFIRED CONDITION, AS IT HAS NO PRIMER MARKS AROUND THE FIRING PIN HOLES. The barrels are tight as new on the hinge pin and breech face, and the entire gun rates at 99.5% factory original finishes. There are a few of the lightest safe marks on the rh side of the buttstock, a tiny bit of wear ahead of the safety button, and that is it. Even the trigger retains 99.5% of the original gold plating. Bores on both sets of barrels are perfect, as are the screws, and the gun is mechanically superb. Cased in the factory Browning Airways case complete with the original 2 sets of keys, this is a great buy for an unusual, collectible, Browning Superposed. We have this priced almost as just a shotgun, so for a Continental Set in near new condition, it is a bargain waiting to be yours. Study the photos and the specifications below, look at how we have her priced compared to others, and you will easily justify owning this scarce and unique Belgium Browning Superposed Superlight Continental Set.
