General Specs: Colt, Year 1880, .45 Colt, 36oz., 7 1/2″ Barrel Serial Number: 62808 This is an original First-Generation Colt Single Action Army (SAA) Cavalry Revolver in .45 Colt. The Colt Peacemaker Model 1873 was the mainstay of the Frontier and was Government issued to multiple State militia. This Colt, sn62808 shipped December 1880 to the U.S. Government Inspector, thereafter, most likely issued to either Ohio or Missouri State units before finding its way into civilian ownership. This revolver has been painstakingly restored at Turnbull restoration where the gun has been brought back to its original factory fresh glory! Highlights of the restoration include charcoal Color Case hardening on the frame, loading gate and hammer. Charcoal blued barrel, cylinder, backstrap and ejector housing. Screws and pins nitre blued and a new hand carved single piece grip with cartouches fabricated and all original markings re cut including David F. Clark’s inspection initials; this gun is spectacular! All parts were original to the gun and were authenticated by John Kopec, his letter is included with this gun. The gun is in ‘as new unfired’ condition and the cylinder has not been turned. This gun is supplied with a fitted vintage hardwood velvet lined case, a Colt Manufacturing Company letter, John Kopec’s research paper and Turnbull Restorations detailed notes and appraisal.
