Ansley H. Fox’s double guns have become the most desirable vintage American double guns on the planet.  There are a few 12ga. A Grade Fox guns available to own so how do you choose which one to buy?  For investment and enjoyment of use, finding Fox guns that have been fully inspected, documented by experts, cleaned and serviced, AND carry a written 90-day mechanical warranty make the most sense for your hard-earned money.  Other factors that should be considered are rarity of features, condition, quality of wood, and for a field gun, weight and balance.  This is what we have here in this Fox A Grade 12ga., sn34531 built in 1936.  This Fox has A RARE FACTORY ENGLISH STOCK (SEE FACTORY ORDER CARD IN THE PHOTO SPREAD), highly figured factory wood, 28” number 4 weight barrels (Fox’s lightest) factory choked IC/M with mirror shiny bores.  In addition, this Fox has been professionally restored to near new condition, at a cost of well over $2500 and 16 months of waiting.  This Fox shipped with 2 ¾” chambers, and to improve patterns and reduce felt recoil to the shooter and the wood stock, VFI EXTENDED THE FORCING CONES TO 1 ½” TAPERS SO THAT YOU CAN SHOOT MODERN 2 ¾” HEAVY FIELD LOADS THROUGH THIS GUNThis is a $200 service in our shop.  The action retains 100% bone and charcoal case color, engraving still sharp, with excellent screws and mechanics, barrels tight as new on hinge and breech face, top lever way right of center, all in superb working order.  The barrels retain 99% rust blue, and the stock has been restored with a hand-rubbed oil finish that has a few field marks evident.  The checkering is superb, as is the wood to metal fit.  This is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN, meaning we stripped the action to the smallest part, cleaned all in the Ultrasonic cleaner, scrubbed each part and inspected all for function and integrity, properly lubricated and reassembled.  VFI CERTIFIED guns have a 90-day mechanical warranty (a $275 service in our shop).  Weighing 6 pounds 15 ounces and balanced dead on the hinge pin, it will prove deadly in the field or on the range.  Any American 12-gauge double gun that weighs under 7lbs. is a rarity and a dream to carry in the uplands.  With all the vintage sporting clays shoots popping up across the country, this is a great Fox to show off at the club.  You deserve a fine A.H. Fox for this year’s hunting season, so don’t hesitate.  This fine Fox A Grade has it all with great stock dimensions (see specs below), perfect mechanics, and notable good looks!  THERE IS NOTHING TO BE DONE WITH THIS GUN BUT GO OUT AND USE IT.  This is a gun you can use and enjoy, and it will continue to gain value.  Only 10% of Fox guns had an English stock, so don’t hesitate if this is your “jam”.  Thanks for looking!
